Overview

Ardhi University (ARU), located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, is a distinguished public institution dedicated to land, built environment, and socio‑environmental studies. Its roots date back to 1956 when it began as a Survey Training School, progressing through the phases of Ardhi Institute and University College under the University of Dar es Salaam, before receiving independent university status in March 2007

ARU offers a rich portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs spanning architecture, planning, engineering, real estate, geomatics, informatics, environmental science and management, community development, economics and finance. The university is unique in Africa as the only institution combining these closely linked fields under one institutional roof, and is known for its project‑based, practice‑oriented approach to teaching and research ARU partners widely with international institutions across Europe, Africa and Asia to support its mission of sustainable development and innovation
