Overview
Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), situated in Morogoro, Tanzania beneath the Ulu guru Mountains, is Tanzania’s national agricultural university. Established in 1984 by Act of Parliament, it evolved from earlier agricultural faculties within the University of Dar es Salaam and Agricultural College dating back to the 1960s. SUA is renowned for its specialization in agriculture, veterinary medicine, forestry, natural resources, environmental science, tourism, and rural development
The university includes five colleges and two schools, offering bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and diploma programmers. Its colleges include Agriculture; Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences; Forestry, Wildlife & Tourism; Social Sciences & Humanities; Natural & Applied Sciences; and Economics & Business Studies, along with Schools of Engineering and Education. With over 7,500 students and about 450+ academic staff (half with PhDs), SUA plays a vital role in research, outreach, and training in argon‑sciences across East Africa

SUA offers on-campus dormitory housing for students with shared rooms and basic communal facilities. Accommodation is arranged by the university and includes meal allowance options.
