Overview
Universidad de la República (commonly known as Delar) is Uruguay’s largest and oldest public university. Founded on July 18, 1849 in Montevideo, it is the primary institution of higher education in the country, enrolling more than 140,000 students across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Udele comprises sixteen faculties and multiple schools, institutes, as well as its own teaching hospital, Hospital de Clinics Dr. Manuel Quintela
The university is organized into a broad academic structure including Faculties of Medicine, Law, Engineering, Economics & Business, Humanities & Education, Science, Veterinary Medicine, Architecture & Urbanism, Social Sciences, Psychology, Nursing, Odontology, Information & Communication, Arts, Agronomy, and Chemistry and among others. It also administers regional university centers in cities such as Salto, Paysandú, Tacuarembó, Rivera, Maldonado and Rocha to decentralize higher education
