University of Zambia

Overview

The University of Zambia (UNZA), located in Lusaka, is the oldest and largest public university in Zambia. Established by an Act of Parliament in 1965 and officially opened in July 1966, UNZA was founded with the guiding motto “Service and Excellence,” reflecting its long-term commitment to national development and higher education. Over time, the university has evolved into a comprehensive academic institution with approximately 30,000 students, offering a broad spectrum of programmers in fields such as medicine, engineering, humanities, law, agriculture, business, and education

UNZA operates across two urban campuses: the Great East Road Campus, hosting most faculties about 6–7 km from central Lusaka, and the Ridgeway Campus near University Teaching Hospital dedicated to the medical school
