Overview
The University for Development Studies (UDS) is Ghana’s premier university focused on addressing development challenges through practical, community-based education. Established in 1992, UDS pioneered the unique “Third Trimester Field Practical Programme” where students spend time in rural communities applying their knowledge to real-world problems. With campuses spread across northern Ghana in Tamale, Navrongo, Wa, and Nyankpala, UDS maintains a strong commitment to grassroots development and research.
UDS offers innovative programs in agriculture, medicine, education, and development studies, with a special emphasis on finding sustainable solutions to poverty, food security, and healthcare access. The university’s community-engaged approach has made it a model for development education in Africa, attracting students from across the continent who want to make a tangible difference in their communities.
