Overview

The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) is the premier public university in Tanzania, located on Milanni Hill in Dar es Salaam’s Bungo District. Originally founded in October 1961 as an affiliate college of the University of London, it became a full-fledged national university in July 1970. Over time, UDSM has grown into a leading Centre for higher education in East Africa, offering a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate programmers across diverse faculties and institutes

UDSM serves approximately 40,000–45,000 students, including around 3,000 postgraduate students, and employs more than 1,200 academic staff and over 1,000 administrative personnel The university is structured into several colleges—including Social Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Information & Communication Technology, Law, Business, Education and Health & Applied Sciences—and operates multiple campuses including Milanni, DUCE, MUCE and institutes in Zanzibar and Mbeya
