University of Defence

Overview

The University of Defence is Serbia’s public military university, established on February 24, 2011. It combines officer education and professional training with graduate-level academic studies. Managed under the Ministry of Defence, it integrates two main institutions—the Military Academy and the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy—to train future officers and medical professionals, while conducting applied and developmental research supporting national defence policy and innovation.

Though young as a standalone university, its roots trace back to nearly two centuries of military education in Serbia. The institution emphasizes modern military sciences, engineering, medicine, and leadership training aligned with global education standards and national security needs. It serves a compact number of students, supporting intensive mentorship and mission-driven academic programs.
