Overview

The University of Dodoma (UDOM), located in Dodoma—the capital of Tanzania—was officially established in March 2007 and began academic programmers in September of that year. It stands on a vast 6,000-hectare campus in Chikwawa, about 8 km east of the city center, making it the largest university in the country, with infrastructure still expanding toward full capacity aimed at hosting up to 50,000 students

UDOM currently hosts over 40,000 students across seven colleges, three schools, and two institutes. These include the College of Humanities & Social Sciences; Natural & Mathematical Sciences; Earth Sciences & Engineering; Informatics & Virtual Education; Education; Business Studies & Law; Health & Allied Sciences; the School of Medicine & Dentistry; School of Nursing & Public Health; the Confucius Institute; and the Institute for Development Studies

6. Accommodation

UDOM provides on‑campus dormitory accommodation available for international and other students, though spaces are limited. Many students supplement this by renting off‑campus housing in Dodoma city.

  • Shared rooms (typically 2‑4 per room), basic furnishings
  • Meal and medical services extra (health fee ≈ 10,000 TZS; UDOSO & QA ≈ 20,000 TZS)
