The University of Malawi (UNIMA), established in 1964, is Malawi’s oldest and largest higher education institution. As the flagship university of Malawi’s public education system, UNIMA comprises five constituent colleges spread across the country, each with distinct academic specializations. The university has educated most of Malawi’s professionals and leaders since independence, maintaining rigorous academic standards while adapting to the nation’s development needs. With its Chancellor College in Zomba serving as the administrative hub, UNIMA offers comprehensive programs in humanities, sciences, medicine, and technical fields to over 10,000 students annually.
