Overview
The University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” is the largest and most prestigious higher education institution in Kosovo. Established in 1970, it was named after Hasan Prishtina, an Albanian political leader. The university has played a central role in Kosovo’s educational and cultural development, particularly during the 1990s when it operated parallel structures during the political conflict.
Today, the university comprises 17 faculties and several research institutes, serving over 40,000 students. Located in the capital city Prishtina, the university has modernized its facilities and curricula to meet European standards while maintaining its important role in Kosovo’s society. It offers programs in Albanian, with increasing offerings in English to attract international students.
