Overview
The University of Ruhuna, established in 1978 and upgraded to a full-fledged university in 1984, is the only university in southern Sri Lanka. Its main campus is located in Wellamadama, Matara, with additional faculties in Kamburupitiya and Galle. The university comprises ten faculties, including Science, Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, and Humanities, serving over 13,000 students.
