Overview

Gulu University is a public university in Northern Uganda established by parliamentary act in 2001 and opened to students in September 2002. Located in Gulu City about 350 km north of Kampala, it serves as a Centre for community transformation and rural development through education, research and innovation. Over time, the university has expanded to include campuses in Kitgum and Hoima, offering multidisciplinary programs aligned with regional needs

The university enrolls approximately 4,500–5,000 students and employs over 560 staff members across several faculties and institutes. Its vision—“For Community Transformation”—guides its mission to train professionals in agriculture, health sciences, education, law, business, peace studies, and natural sciences, with a strong orientation toward rural service

    • Green Park Hostel and Inland Girls Hostel – single/self‑contained rooms UGX 900,000/semester
    • Options include shuttles, internet, DSTV at higher fee rates
