Overview

Uganda Christian University (UCU), established in July 1997 by the Church of Uganda, is the first chartered private university in Uganda and is located mainly in Mukono, about 25 km east of Kampala. With approximately 13,000 students across multiple campuses—Mukono, Kampala, Kabale, Mbale, and Arua—UCU offers education rooted in Christian values combined with academic excellence

UCU comprises several schools and faculties, including Business & Administration, Education, Law, Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Journalism, Social Sciences, Theology & Divinity, Agricultural Sciences, and Public Health, Nursing & Midwifery. It provides over 70 programmes, from diplomas to PhD, tailored to develop professionals with integrity, critical thinking, and societal responsiveness

6. Accommodation

The university provides accommodation for students in on‑campus halls and nearby private hostels. Dorm occupancy has been limited to two students per room post‑COVID to enhance comfort and space.

  • Sabiti (female) and Niambi (male) halls of residence
  • Kodwo & Maxine hostel at Ankrah Foundation (two‑bed rooms, new single‑rooms being added)
  • Shared rooms limited to two students per room
  • Common rooms, computer labs, internet access, DSTV in halls
  • Students may also use private hostels near campus
