Think Out of the Box
A group of frogs was hopping around the jungle. There were four frogs in total. While navigating the terrain, two frogs fell into a mud pit and began arguing about how to escape, while the two outside looked on. The two that fell tried to jump out, but after several attempts the outside two urged them to accept their destiny and die in the mud pit, as they would never get out. While the argument raged, one frog in the mud pit heard the others and gave up, while the other kept trying. This persistence mirrors lessons found in other BUHAVE stories, such as The Story Of an Elephant.
After a while, the frog who kept trying finally got out and showed that obstacles can be overcome with effort. This idea of persistence is echoed in other BUHAVE stories, such as Story On Helping Others.
However, the two outside frogs then asked the one who had escaped, “How did you manage it when it seemed impossible?” The frog replied, “I am deaf, hence I can’t hear you.” But when you were talking about us, I thought you were motivating me.
Story Lesson
The deaf frog teaches a valuable lesson: ignore negativity and stay focused on your vision. When you train your mind to be a student of life, you increase your chances of success despite what others say.
